Painted Pony
From an album released by GIT called Flowers
2'29 (Trish Anderson)
Painted Pony broken and cracked
Tired of circling around the same track
Left in the field the circus aint' comin' back
Now it won't have to go 'round with a fool on it's back
The circus came to town, everyone had fun
Smilin' everywhere and a frown was on no-one
Instant satisfaction, everybody wins
And all the lights and rides made us spin and spin and spin
My poor heart broken and cracked
Tired of circling around the same track
You've gone away now you ain't comin' back
Now I won't have to go around like a fool on its back
You came to town, everything was sweet
More than make me smile, you made me feel complete
Instant satisfaction, walkin' happy street
You lit the fire then left me to burn in your heat
You pulled the lever and around I went
Our eyes meetin' over and over again
Later that night I crept from your tent
In the moonlight I sat on the painted pony and wept
My poor heart, broken and cracked
Lies with the pony in the field out back
You've gone away the circus ain't comin' back
Now we won't have to go 'round like fools on your track
Now we won't have to go 'round...like fools on your track
