Righty ho! Mission accomplished! By way of a preamble, this morning I rang my mate Mazz and said "Mate! The surf is apparently FULLY SICK this morning! Let's go! Also, you won't need a wetsuit because I went out yesterday and the water was quite warm!". Anyway, once we got out to the beach, there were no waves at all, and Mazz tragically passed away from hypothermia about half an hour later. So on top of Thursday night's debacle, I was beginning to seriously question my judgement about practically everything. So I went home and made damn sure I didn't stuff up! Everything was meticulously planned, right down to the last minute! And finally, on Sunday afternoon, I drove into Leederville and saw Git. Or would have, had I gone to the right hotel. However, eventually I found the Oxford, and there they were! They were really good. They closed with "Ring of Fire", which was excellent. I can't really think of much more to say, although they were joined by a trumpeter for one song. I didn't see where he came from, but he was very good too. I didn't hang around for Mick Thomas because I had to get home to aid the other parental unit in child rearing duties, but I had a good time. -- John Burrage http://members.iinet.net.au/~burrage/ |
